Tap-root forming herbaceous perennial, also known as red dock, grows easily in clumps.  Attractive red-streaked foliage.  Young leaves can be harvested as greens with a spinach-like flavor.  Tiny star-shaped flowers form on reddish stems in late summer-fall.

Sun:  Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Well-drained soil. Sorrel likes a pH in the range of 5.5 to 6.8. Since it is grown for its leaves, soil rich in organic matter will give you lots of leafy, greens.

Water:  Be sure to water during dry spells to keep moist.

Zones: 5 to 8.

Height/Spread: Sorrel only gets about 12 - 18 inches tall. It spreads out up 2 feet.
